Southwestern Oklahoma State University Student Parker Jacks Interns at Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma
FCWO Intern Program allows students to gain hands-on experience in every area of the organization—including lending, credit, marketing, appraisal, human resources, accounting, IT, and administration.
WOODWARD – June 11, 2025 – Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma is proud to welcome Parker Jacks as our 2025 summer intern. A native of Canute, Oklahoma, Parker is a junior at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, pursuing a degree in accounting.
“Our summer internship program plays a key role in developing the next generation of agricultural professionals,” said Greg Livingston, President and CEO of Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma. “Many of our current employees began as FCWO interns. This program allows students to gain hands-on experience in every area of our organization—including lending, credit, marketing, appraisal, human resources, accounting, IT, and administration.”
Parker grew up in the small community. His childhood home is situated outside of Canute, Okla. where he graduated high school in 2023 as Valedictorian of his class, which, according to Jacks, is one of his most proud moments to date.
He spent much of his early childhood helping on the family farm.
“My grandfather and uncle are cattle producers and have been very influential with my involvement in agriculture. During late grade school and throughout high school, I was an active member of 4-H and FFA which allowed me to show heifers in livestock competitions and accumulate some awards along the way,” Jacks said. “Having been a part of agriculture from a young age, I have been aware of, and grateful for, Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma because of their heavy involvement in agriculture and their contributions to the communities in which they operate,” Jacks said.
Jacks heard about the internship through his academic advisor at SWOSU and jumped at the opportunity to apply.
“My favorite part of the internship so far been the opportunity to gain first-hand learning from some of the most experienced professionals in this field, and the chance to see exactly what makes Farm Credit so special in the credit and financial services industry,” Jacks said.
According to Jacks, the work environment at FCWO is one of the best that he has ever been a part of and appreciates that every employee that he has worked with is supportive, respectful, and honest.
“The thing that surprised me the most about this internship was the sheer amount of work that goes into the financial services that Farm Credit provides. While surprising, this did teach me a very important lesson: communication. For this system to work, all employees must be open to collaborating with one another,” Jacks said.
This young man is spot on. Communication, teamwork and customer service are three of FCWO’s top priorities. According to Livingston, Jacks has made notable contributions to our team this summer and has been professional, receptive and inquisitive.
“We consider it a privilege to work with talented, passionate students like Parker Jacks,” said Livingston. “Investing in the future of agriculture is at the heart of what we do.”
