Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma proudly congratulates team member Jamey Mitchell, recipient of the 2025 Rural Renewal Citizenship Prize. This prestigious honor, awarded by the Oklahoma State University Rural Renewal Initiative, recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to revitalizing rural communities.
“I am humbled to have been nominated for this award by some incredible people. These fine folks are driven by the same vision that drives me – a vision to see our community continue to enhance the Tradition of Excellence!” said Jamey Mitchell.
Reviewers of Mitchell’s nomination were deeply impressed by his unwavering dedication to his hometown of Texhoma, Oklahoma.
“My kids are the fifth generation from our family to graduate from Texhoma High School. Coming from a multi-generational farm family, I have a vested interest in the Texhoma community, and I am passionate about seeing it thrive,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell currently serves as Mayor and Trustee of the Town of Texhoma, Trustee for the Texhoma Housing Authority, Regional Board Member for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Elder at First Christian Church of Texhoma, and High School Youth Minister for The Summit.
“There is no better place to raise kids than in rural Oklahoma! Faith in Jesus is the backbone of Texhoma. It’s that faith that runs deeply through our school system and it alone sets our students apart to achieve the best that life has to offer,” Mitchell added.
A proud product of rural Oklahoma, Mitchell graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a double major in Agricultural Economics and Accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in the spring of 2001 and joined Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma in 2003.
Over the past two decades, Mitchell has held a variety of roles at Farm Credit, including positions in credit, finance, accounting, operations, and executive management. He was promoted to loan officer, then branch manager of the Guymon location, and today serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma—a $2 billion association serving over 5,000 stockholders across 27 counties, headquartered in Woodward, OK.
“At Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma, we believe that true success comes from supporting one another, and we encourage all our employees to be active in their local communities through service, leadership, and giving back,” said Greg Livingston, FCWO Chief Executive Officer.
Mitchell’s leadership extends far beyond his professional role. He has served on the Guymon Chamber of Commerce board, served as finance chairman for the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo Committee, served on the Panhandle Regional Economic Development Committee (PREDCI) board and led the Texhoma High School Alumni Association as past President.
“Jamey approaches everything he does with excellence and purpose—not just in his work, but in the way he serves others. His commitment to his community and his drive for mutual success reflect the very heart of Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma,” Livingston added. “We are proud to have team members like Jamey who invest their time and energy into making rural communities stronger.”
When asked what has kept him with FCWO for over 20 years, Mitchell didn’t hesitate:
“It’s no doubt the people. My co-workers and our customers are the salt of the earth. I am blessed that Farm Credit has given me the ability to continue the rural way of life that is so vitally important to me and my family,” he said with a smile.
Mitchell truly enjoys his work and community involvement and strives to excel in all he does. Yet above all, he remains grounded in his faith and family.
“Above my career, my life goal is to love and serve my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while striving to be a devoted husband to Chelsey, and a dependable father to Emma (20), Maddie (18), and Elijah (18),” Mitchell said.
Jamey Mitchell’s unwavering commitment to faith, family, and community exemplifies the spirit of the Rural Renewal Citizenship Prize. His leadership, both at Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma and in the town of Texhoma, continues to inspire those around him. As he humbly serves with purpose and passion, Jamey reminds us all that rural renewal begins with individuals who choose to lead with integrity, invest in others, and believe in the power of small towns to shape a brighter future.
